I just did the downy dunk on my PM Sam and PM Lissie. Neither of them show any improvement.
My mom bought the ultra-concentrated type and so I diluted it a bit before using it. I let them soak an hour and it didn't work. I bought all that downy for nothing.
I will post my album soon. Let me know if I did anything wrong. Thanks so much!

Sometimes the hair needs to be steamed, too. Did you follow the directions to Joy's restoration album? I know it didn't help my PM Addy but it did help another doll that I used to have.

I let mine sit for days in the downy. I used full strength.
If the hair is still dry use pantene smooth and shine anti-frizz serum. It works great.

MollyGirl, do you have before and after pictures? I'd love to see the difference, since I don't have a steamer.

Yeah, I didn't see much improvement until I steamed. Check my album for step by step directions.

I had a superfrizzy Sam I bought off Ebay, and instead of using the Downey I tried my Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat on her hair (she's a PM and has the more human like hair), since it did such a good job on real human hair! I let her soak for about 7 minutes, then gently washed it out. I had to do it twice, but MAN did it work! It even helped rejuvenate her curls somewhat and her hair feels and looks great.

The way I recommend doing it is.....
1) Wash it first with a shampoo especially for synthetic wigs. You can find it at Sally's Beauty stores (I think they're called). Getting all the oils and goo off first might help the Downey do its work better later.
2) I recommend using full strength Downey, for however long you want to soak it. Also, please don't waste that Downey by throwing it away afterwards. Just use a funnel or cup with a good spout, to pour it back into the Downey bottle.
3) Steaming is a very necessary part of the process. This is the magical moment. The shampoo makes it look better, shiny and clean. The Downey helps the tangles come out and starts the de-frizzing process. But the steaming is what makes it all come together to the final result. Some dolls will turn out more perfectly than others, depending on how much damage you were dealing with to begin with. But the steaming is the most fun, most rewarding part. Just be careful to use a steamer with no exposed metal parts.

PS The steaming will get out some or all of the frizzies, but it will also leave the hair very straight. Once you've got what you want regarding the frizzies, or as much of them out as you think you're going to get, you can put some rollers in the hair, the size of the curl or body or curve that you want, and steam it again.
